Confirmation Class

When we are baptized as infants, our parents commit to raising us as followers of Jesus. Confirmation is a process by which youth confirm for themselves their decision to follow Jesus Christ. Confirmation at Song of Life takes place over a period of several months, and includes:

• A small group for learning about and experiencing what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. Each year's class of youth helps to determine what we will study, as in initial gatherings they share what questions they have and what they want to know and learn more about.

• The experience of others. Mentors visit our small group to share about their faith in Christ and the impact it has on their life.

• Field trips. We visit worship services at a Jewish synagogue as well as other Christian denominations, to learn more about the roots and variety of our faith.

• Retreat. We gather with other confirmation classes from around the state for a special Confirmation Retreat in the early spring. This retreat, hosted on Mingus Mountain near Prescott, is often the highlight for participating youth

• Service and Mission: As an expression of their commitment to Jesus Christ and the church, confirmands are expected to participate in both service in the church and mission in the community.

Our Next Confirmation Experience

We currently offer Confirmation every other year. Our next confirmation experience for active youth (grades 8 and above) at Song of Life will begin in the Fall of 2013 and conclude in the spring of 2014.
