Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. — Matthew 6:19-21 (NRSV)
During the month of November, we are launching our Generosity Campaign, called Faith in our Future. This is the time when we offer our Financial and Spiritual Gifts (i.e. time and talent) Commitments for 2021 to God and the church.
Letters with paper materials were sent to members and regular attenders starting November 10. If you do not receive your packet by Sunday, November 15, please contact the office by phone at 480-641-1200 or by email at so we can send a new set to you right away.
In scripture we are advised that, when it comes to our giving, we are to take the first tenth – a tithe – and give that in honor to our God. (See Leviticus 27:30-34 and Nehemiah 10:35-37). For those who have the financial means to give a tithe, we encourage you to do so as an acknowledgement of God’s command. However, we also know that, for some, a tithe is not possible, which is why we encourage those who cannot give a tithe to give what you can, and gradually work to build up to a tithe over time. You might also refer to the chart below, which we hope will be helpful as you prayerfully consider your financial commitment to the Lord.
Your completed Commitment Cards help church leadership make plans for our ministry activities in 2021. Without your completed financial Commitment Cards,* we cannot accurately plan for necessary expenditures, especially in this new age of COVID-19, during which we anticipate having to increase our efforts to keep our facility sanitized and our congregation safe from the virus.
Likewise, without your completed Spiritual Gift Commitment Cards, we are unable to staff the many volunteer positions that we know will be needed in the weeks and months ahead.
Therefore, we are asking all of our members and friends to submit their Commitment Cards to the church or online (see below) by November 20 so they can be blessed on Sunday, November 22.
Please return your paper Commitment Cards either by US mail or by dropping them off in the mailbox near the office at SoL church; OR submit your Commitment Cards electronically using the links below.
Thank you for your commitment to the mission and ministry of Jesus Christ through Song of Life UMC. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us by email at or by phone at 480-641-1200.
*We realize situations change, and that your financial commitments may need to be adjusted either up or down throughout the year. We understand that what you submit at this time is your best estimate of your financial gifts.
