Leonard Huang
Pianist
Leonard Huang started to learn the piano at the age of twelve and he made his debut solo recital in Yunnan Provincial Song and Dance Ensemble at the age of eighteen. He participated in the 2015 China Boya Piano Festival Competition and awarded Outstanding
Award in Yunnan Division and First Prize in national finals. He also won the first prize in Chopin Etudes Group and Rachmaninoff Group in 2014 Hong Kong International Piano Open Competition in Yunnan Division. Leonard Huang has performed for the piano masterclasses of
Chih-long Hu, David Northington, Aviram Reichert, Vladimir Stoupel, and Dang Thai Son. He received private coaching with Israel pianist Dror Biran and American pianist Michael Chertock, as well as chamber coaching with American Cellist Alan Rafferty.
The teaching experience of Leonard Huang started from 2018 to present. He got a professional training of music pedagogy and successfully joined the ASU String Project which is a member of the National String Project Consortium. He worked in ASU String Project, Ichi San Academy as a piano teacher.
A native of Kunming, China, Leonard Huang is current pursuing Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance at Arizona State University under the tutelage of Brazilian pianist Dr.Caio
Pagano and serves as a Teaching Assistant. He also holds a master’s degree in piano performance from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music under the guidance of French pianist Jean-Louis Haguenauer, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from
Arizona State University with Brazilian pianist Dr.Caio Pagano.
Leonard Huang has been a church pianist in Song of Life United Methodist Church since October 2024.
