Post-Easter Update

Post Easter Update
4/16/2020

Happy Thursday friends!! I hope you’ve had a good week so far. This week has been a little less hectic than usual for the Topping clan. We’re doing well, and are praying you are as well. I have a few things to share with you today:

Sunday School Resources for Kids
So sorry to be late with these resources for kids…it’s been one of those weeks!! Erika’s Sunday School #5

New Sermon Series
This Sunday we’ll be starting a new sermon series called “Bad Boys and Girls of the Bible.” In this series, we’ll take a closer look at a number of characters from the Bible – people like Adam and Eve, Lot and his wife (who, incidentally, is nameless in the Scriptures), Jephthah and Sapphira (who are they?) and the ways we can learn from their successes and their failures. This Sunday we’ll take a look at Adam in a message called “It’s Not My Fault!”

New Zoom Group: Coffee with the Pastor
In an effort to remain connected, we have added a number of “Zoom Groups” to our “menu” of available options. For example, on Sunday mornings, we have our “Fellowship” group (I’d love to think of a new name for that one) which meets before the worship service, and our “Koinonia Adult Study Group” which meets after worship. Our kids and teens are also meeting via Zoom, and starting this evening, our “Coping with Loss” group will also meet using Zoom.

So in the spirit of remaining connected, I’m starting a new group called “Coffee with the Pastor.” This group will meet on Wednesday mornings at 10 am starting next Wednesday, April  22. I’ll send out the meeting invitation Tuesday evening using this email system. We won’t have a specific agenda for this group…we’ll spend time chatting, maybe have a weekly devotional, maybe even engage in some prayer time…who knows? Join us to find out what happens!!

Giving: Text2Give Option
As promised here’s yet another way for you to give electronically to the ministries of Song of Life!! It’s called “Text2Give” and it’s especially for those who have smartphones but don’t have our Church Center App. Here are the steps to get set up:

  1. Text the amount you wish to donate (including the dollar sign) to 84321
    1. Example: $20. Remember: YOU MUST INCLUDE THE $
  2. You will get a text back with a link, click on that link. You will be taken to a website that will ask you to identify your church.
  3. Click on the Song of Life logo. If Song of Life doesn’t display, follow the prompts to search for Song of Life.
  4. Enter your email address when prompted.
  5. Enter your first and last name when prompted. Then click “Continue.”
  6. Under Select Payment Method
    1. Select Add Bank Account – you will need you bank login information
      1. Click Instantly Verify Your Account, then click on “Continue”
      2. Select your bank or search. If it does not come up in the search box, you may need to select the credit card option
      3. Login with the credentials for your bank account and follow any further prompts
      4. Select account
      5. Click Donate $20 Enable Text to Give
    2. Or Add Debit/credit card
      1. Follow the next prompts entering your card information
  7. Once complete, you’ll get a text confirming the donation.

I know…this sounds alike a lot of steps, but the good news is you only have to do all of that once! After your account has been linked, all you have to do is text the dollar amount you want to give to 84321.

If you only text a dollar amount, the system will assume you wish to give that amount to the General Fund. If you want to give to a different fund, all you have to do is type in the name of the fund. For example, if you wanted to give to our Building the Future fund, you text the amount and the word building. Or to give to the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund, text the amount and the initials pdf. For a list of available funds, please contact me or the office.

A Final Word…

Don’t forget…if you drive by the church and see they are working on the new sign…take pictures and send them to me!!

I’ll be in touch on Saturday with information about Sunday’s worship service. In the meantime, know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers!

Grace and Peace,
Pastor Jody
