Lent, Communion, New Series: Good Enough
Now that we are officially in the season of Lent (yes, it started last Wednesday on Ash Wednesday), we are not only acknowledging the ways we need to repent of our sins, but also the ways we are “Good Enough” in God’s eyes, and should be “Good Enough” in our own.
To get the most out of Lent this year, we suggest you begin by:
- Viewing the Ash Wednesday Service if you were not able to participate in it last Wednesday. Here’s the link to the service: Ash Wednesday Service. Short on time? Then at least take a look at the message, located 28 min/35 secs into the service.
- Consider purchasing the book “Good Enough” by Kate Bowler and Jessica Richie, on which this series is based. It’s available in both hardcover and electronic format from Amazon.
- Download this Companion Devotional Booklet and this Reading Guide that goes along with it. We encourage you to read along each week, as you are able.
- Listen to this song by clicking on this link: Good Enough Threshold Song It will be used as a transition from “Welcome” to “Worship” each week during Lent. A much shorter version will also be used as part of our benediction.
As our COVID-19 cases continue going down (as of yesterday the 7-day average was less than 30), those who would like to return to in-person worship may do so as you are comfortable. We are continuing to follow CDC guidance related to wearing masks while indoors (vaccinated and boosted – masks optional; not vaccinated: please wear a mask for your protection and the protection of others). High quality masks (N95/KN95/KF94) preferred.
Our online services are at 9:30am (Traditional) and 11:00 am (Praise). Please see the link below to tune in!
Here are the bulletins for tomorrow morning’s services:

Music for Sunday
We are grateful for the music ministry offered by Anita Mills in the past, present, and future.
Friends, please continue to pray for our friend Trina Brown. She was recently in the hospital, prognosis is unknown at this time.
We are continuing to collect donations for a special project sponsored by our Joy Circle ladies. They are making Mothers’ Day gift bags for the clients served by our mission partner, Jose’s Closet. They are trying to make up to 100 bags or more at a cost of about $5 per bag. Donations are graciously accepted electronically by choosing the fund called “Special Gifts – Designated Funds” or by cash or check placed in our giving box or sent by US Mail to the Office.

A support group is available to you sponsored by Dayspring UMC in Tempe and facilitated by our church member, Anne Ahland. The group meets by Zoom on the first and third Mondays of each month.
