Worship Info for 5/8/2022

Happy Mother’s Day!
Revelation Series Continues

Good evening! Tomorrow morning, in addition to continuing our sermon series on Revelation, we are celebrating the women who are mothering figures in our lives. We have a special gift for these special women in our lives that will be given out during worship, and those who attend online, we will make sure you get yours as well.

Here are the bulletins for tomorrow morning’s services:

To join us for worship online…

Our Traditional (9:30am) and Praise (11:00am) services will be livestreamed as usual tomorrow morning. Join us about 5-10 minutes before these services when we will “go live.” Here’s the link: Online Worship

Worship Service Formats and Livestreaming
For many weeks we have been asking for more volunteers for all three of our worship services and have received very little response. As a result, we are making some changes to the formats used during worship. We are also considering whether or not to continue livestreaming our 11:00 Praise Service. More information about these decisions is included in our bulletin. Here’s what you need to know for tomorrow:

  • 8:00am Classic Service – we will show fewer slides during worship. Lyrics for the hymns are and will be printed in the bulletin. We will also have no liturgists or other speakers for the time being during worship.
  • 9:30am Traditional Service – for now, we will continue displaying lyrics slides on the screen and online, even though the lyrics for the songs are included in the bulletin. We will also have no liturgists or other speakers for the time being during the service.
  • 11:00am Praise Service – tomorrow we will continue livestreaming and will display song lyrics on the screens in the sanctuary and online even though lyrics are also included in the bulletin. We will likely transition to having lyrics in the bulletins only (no slides) in the coming weeks. We will also have no liturgists or other speakers for the time being during the service. IF YOU REGULARLY ATTEND WORSHIP ONLINE AT 11AM AND HAVE NOT BEEN REGISTERING YOUR ATTENDANCE, PLEASE MAKE A POINT OF REGISTERING YOUR ATTENDANCE IN THE WEEKS AHEAD. Whether or not we continue livestreaming this service will partly be determined by attendance figures as well as our ability to get more folks to volunteer to work in the booth.

If you have any questions about this information, please feel free to contact Pastor Jody.
Our Sermon Series on Revelation Continues: “Revealed” (A Study of the Book of Revelation)

This series will be inspired by the book Breaking the Code, originally written by theologian Bruce M. Metzger. A partner study, using the book and featuring video presentations by Rev. David DeSilva is being offered on Tuesdays at 10:30 am in the Sanctuary. Our weekly sessions will also be recorded at posted for later viewing. The Revised and Updated Edition of Breaking the Code is available from many booksellers in both paperback and electronic versions. Reading the book is not a requirement for this series but might be helpful as we explore the Book of Revelation, one of the most misunderstood books of the Bible.

We are also providing a Reading Schedule for the Book of Revelation. Click here to download and/or print it.

Bible Buddies Adult Study Group
Our Bible Buddies Study Group WILL meet this week on Tuesday at 10:30am for fellowship, followed by our study time at about 11am or shortly before. We will continue our study of the Book of Revelation. If you would like to join via Zoom, please contact Pastor Jody at  before Tuesday morning.

Koinonia Bible Study Group
This Adult Study Group WILL NOT meet because of Mother’s Day

Are you a caregiver for someone with memory impairment?
A support group is available to you sponsored by Dayspring UMC in Tempe and facilitated by our church member, Anne Ahland. The group meets by Zoom on the first and third Mondays of each month. Discussions include the successes and challenges of caregiving in a safe, confidential, and caring setting. Please contact Anne at  for more information.

Celebration of Life – Gay Tillotson
Yesterday morning we celebrated the life of our friend Gay Tillotson.  If you would like to honor and remember Gay with a memorial gift, the family asks that your gifts be given to the Song of Life UMC Transforming our SoL Fund.

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow…either in-person or online!
