Peace With Justice Sunday/Annual Conference Project
Today is Peace with Justice Sunday, when we will consider the ways we can promote peace and justice in our world. Given what’s happening in the world right now, this is a good time for us to bring peace and justice to the forefront. This is also one of the Sundays that we receive a special offering. If you would like to give to the Peace with Justice offering, which will be passed on through our Conference to the General Church, a special fund will be set up for those who give online. If you wish to give by cash or check, simply mail or deliver your offering to the church.
Today is also Communion Sunday. Those who wish to receive communion are invited to join us via Zoom. The information for logging was sent out via email. Please remember to have your bread or crackers and juice (or for you purists, wine!) ready, as we will begin as close to 10:30 as possible so those who are joining the Sunday morning study group will also have time to “Zoom” over there!
Information about our Annual Conference Mission Project is at the bottom of this email…so keep scrolling!
Here’s what you need for tomorrow’s morning. Our worship service will begin at 9:30 AM with our Prelude Music and will be broadcast over Facebook Live and through our weblink. See below for the different ways to join.
Our “Meet and Greet” meets via Zoom. See below for the login information.
Here’s Your Digital_Bulletin!
Please Register Your Attendance!
Remember, we have TWO WAYS to let us know you are in worship:
1. Click here to access our SoL Online Attendance Registration & Prayer Request Form. Use this form to not only register your attendance (and the attendance of those worshiping with you), but to also share any prayer requests or other comments with your church.
2. If you have our SoL Church Center App on your phone, tap on the “Check In” at the bottom of the home screen and follow the prompts. (The App can be downloaded to your phone by going to the App Store or Google Play.) You can check-in yourself and your family members just like we’ve been doing for the last 9 months in person at SoL. The difference is…NO BARCODE TO SCAN!! Please remember: this option does not allow you to include any prayer requests. To share a prayer request, use option 1 above.
Also, please remember, if you view the worship service after the fact (like on Sunday afternoon or during the week), please complete the SoL Online Attendance Registration form. You won’t be able to use the app as described in #2 above, but we do want to know if you attended, even if it wasn’t on Sunday morning.
SoL Meet & Greet via Zoom
We highly encourage you to join us for this Meet & Greet time before worship tomorrow morning!! The folks who have been attending have asked about some of you they would like to see but haven’t. We are thankful to our own Robin Benning for hosting this Zoom group. What’s more, the Toppings also join in, so you can get a behind-the-scenes look at us as we finish preparations for worship! We’ll log in at about 8:15, but the Meet and Greet won’t begin until 8:30 AM. (details were sent via email)
Online Worship Access
To log-in via Facebook Live: Whether you have a Facebook account or not, you can join the livestream by going to our SoL Facebook page, then clicking on “Videos” on the lefthand side. Here’s a link to our FB page: SoL Facebook Page Please leave comments for us and each other during worship! If there’s something we need to fix, text either David (480-766-9228) or Pastor Jody (480-766-9272).
On-the-Web: If you don’t have a Facebook Account, you can join from the following link: https://song-of-life-umc.freeonlinechurch.com/live (You will not be able to message us or comment from this site, but if you do have comments, please either text us at the numbers above, or email us at (please note: we probably won’t check these emails until after worship is over.)
Share the Facebook Livestream…if you can:
After you have successfully connected to Facebook Live, we encourage you to share it on your own FB page so your FB friends can worship along with you, OR “Share” it with your friends, especially those who don’t regularly attend SoL.
If you need information about our e-giving processes, please go to our website at songoflifeumc.org/give
As a reminder, on the first Sunday of each month we typically ask for contributions to our Pastor’s Discretionary Fund, which is used to help those who are in need in our church and our community. As I’m sure you know, there are many who are in need at this time, and your generosity in giving to this fund is amazing. So today, if you would like to make a contribution as part of our Communion Offering, we invite you to do so either electronically or by cash or check. Go to songoflifeumc.org/give for more information.
Koinonia/Bible Buddies Study Group
This combined study group will meet at about 11 AM via Zoom. If you are interested in joining, please contact Dean Wolfahrt for login information. If you need his contact information, please reach out to the office by email at .
A Final Word…
Next weekend is our Annual Conference and as usual, our Conference is sponsoring a special mission project which will benefit the Navajo Nation in Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah by helping to provide them with much-needed water. As you have undoubtedly heard, the Native Americans have become a hotspot for the COVID-19 outbreaks. Part of the reason the disease is spreading so much there is because they lack this one basic need: clean water in order to wash their hands. By donating to this effort, you will be providing a very important need to our Native American friends. To give, we recommend you go straight to the Conference Website, at https://dscumc.org/blog/2020/04/30/water-for-the-reservation/. Or if you prefer giving by cash or check, simply mail or deliver your designated donation to Song of Life and we’ll see that it gets to the Conference.
See you tomorrow morning!!
Grace and Peace,
